DP/Camera Operator


We call him Indiana Jones and he even wears the hat to enhance the role.


When Scarafile is not working his magic on the set of Boardwalk Empire, he is climmbing mountains, suspended in a helicopter or crawling through tunnels to capture the best shot. From lighting to working the dolly, right through to operating the camera, Chris has been working professionally in film production since 1994. His specialties cross many aspects of cinematography, from narrative feature and documentary to aerial, underwater, and time lapse photography.


Chris was director of photography for ‘Gowanus Brooklyn,’ the grand jury prize winning short at the 2004

Sundance Film Festival, and has won several awards for his camera work on the festival circuit, including best cinematography for the feature ‘Black Days,’ Effects- driven ‘Cycle’ and urban drama ‘The Tested.’ Since 2006, the photo agency Getty images has represented Chris’s extensive library of nature photography. When he is not shooting, Chris can often be found operating the dolly on studio and television productions including ‘Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull,’ ‘Law and Order SVU,’ ‘The Good Wife’ and ‘Boardwalk Empire.


He lives in Brooklyn with his English artist wife and their 2 year old daughter Darwin who he flies through the sky like a Leica.
